The Amazing Tree

The neighbours hate the leylandii.

A football hits the low ferny branches, smashing blue eggs nested within. Birdsong echoes as silhouettes flicker through the tree; it breathes like a dark flame, warming the pale twilight sky.

No chainsaw will ever touch it.
