From Grey January to Sunshiney February…

I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Award, by Samantha at Grilled Cheese (and Other Things That Make my World go Round) – thank you Samantha for spreading the sunshine around!

Here are the rules for the sunshine award

The rules for accepting the Sunshine Award are as follows:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
2. List 10 facts about you!
3. Nominate 10 other blogs for this award.
4. Announce the nominations to the nominees.

10 Facts about me:

1)ย Rose Red is not my real name

2) I am addicted to chai tea

3)ย I listened to The Pixies all the time as a teenager (still love them, No 13 Baby is my favourite…those beautiful, sad guitar riffs)

4) I love the song ‘Me and Bobby Mgee’ sung by Janis Joplin

5) I have been dyeing my hair for so long I’m not sure what my natural hair colour is

6) I missed climbing Macchu Picchu because of the surprise presence of my daughter, in my tummy. I thought I was going to go home, give birth and then go straight back up Macchu Picchu with her strapped to my back, but she was a bit heavy…

7) I still love watching re-runs of Friends

8)ย I was born in Africa and lived there for the first 5 years of my life. The greyness of England still makes my eyes ache with hunger for bright light, and colour.

9) I speak fluent French, although I can’t read it (I learnt it from spending a year as an au pair in Corsica)

10) I am 5’3, and married someone who is 6’5 – just for comedic effect.

And here are the nominees – bloggers who have inspired me positively and creatively – thank you to all the following:

  1. Congratulations for your nomination (and thank you for nominating me in turn!) I loved your facts–have you been back to Africa?

    • You’re welcome ๐Ÿ™‚
No, I have been to Egypt but not Kenya where I was born. Egypt did feel familiar, I loved the white heat all around…one day I hope I can make it back to my birthplace!

    • You are welcome, I really enjoyed reading your blog! You are right, it is hard to boss around someone that tall although I apparently do manage it! Great to meet a fellow short person! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Thank you very much Rose! I just got back online and will write an acknowledgement this week as soon as I am caught up. I appreciate you, your readership, your own blog and of course your continued kindness and support of my work. HUGS BTW I love your “mutt & jeff” marriage! Kissing must be interesting and your poor neck!!! LOL

      • Ha ha, as high as I can walk in which unfortunately is only about 1.5 inches! When I first met my husband I wore much higher boots, until I got some back problems :/ – this is why we didn’t properly realise how much height difference there was until a few months in! Can you manage to wear them on a regular basis? I take my hat off to you if so! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • yes ma’am! My lowest heel is 3″ and they kill my back…too low LOL. My highest are 4 1/2, but those I do not wear too often. They have a very small platform on them so it is the same as walking on 4″ heels, but I feel GIANT in them. I am 5’5″ tall in bare feet (I was 5’6″ a couple of yrs ago, guess I shrank).

  4. found you via Blogher! We have much in common! (well, aside from geographical location, french, and your near climb! I’ve never nearly climbed MP!) But love the Pixies, dying my hair, reruns of Friends, and most especially Chai!
